Once again, the "Studio im Hochhaus" features contemporary performance art made for this occasion and venue by Berlin based and international artists. The second edition of the festival links live actions to visual works. For three days in August, individual and group performances will take place in the rooms of this municipal gallery. Documentations, experiments and remains of actions will stay on-location after the live performances are done. They will serve as a starting point for new performances by the participating artists* and can also be experienced as a permanently developing installation of visual works by visitors. In addition, some previously made visual works by these artists will be in the space adding another layer.

Through the juxtaposition of performances, their material traces and other permanent artistic works, aspects of archiving, the paradox of documentation and questions about the materiality of performance art come into focus.

Performance art, in our experience, takes place primarily through networks initiated by artists in which they create suitable working conditions for themselves. Anja Ibsch and Jörn Burmester Wium, the curators of "Performance im Hochhaus 2" come from such a background of the Association for Performance Art in Berlin APAB e.V., and some of the invited artists from the sphere of the European action laboratory PAErsche.
